Firstly, a big thanks to all the volunteers who really did brave the elements ๐ŸŒช๏ธ and successfully put on the event after having a very quick change to our B plan route due to our original venue being under some water ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Shoutout to Jon Edwards and his team from Ready Set Go who not only had to save the gazebo from the ditch first thing this morning, but made sure we had a fun, safe and well organised race.

Despite the soggy and windy conditions we had a fabulous 3๏ธโƒฃ6๏ธโƒฃ9๏ธโƒฃ finishers who all came through smiling Congratulations all ๐ŸŽ‰

You will have received the important race info via email, but in case you missed it, hereโ€™s all you need to know..

Key Timings โฐ

  • 8:30am Bar/Toilets Open.
  • 8:30am Bib/Chip Collection Opens.
  • 10:00am Race Starts.
  • 11:45am Presentations inside the Rugby Club.

The Rugby Club will also have tea, coffee and other refreshments to purchase – Please support our hosts if you can and stop for a festive drink with your teammates.

๐Ÿ“ Venue & race HQ: The venue for the race is Hereford Rugby Club, Belvedere Lane, Hereford HR4 0PH.

๐Ÿš— Parking: Please see the below details of local car parks, we DO NOT have any parking at the Rugby Club due to the start & finish being in the carpark at the Rugby Club. Please use Asda or Sainsburys which are all about a 5-minute jog to the start line.

๐Ÿท๏ธNumber Collection: You will need to collect your bib on the race day from the Rugby Club, please give plenty of time to get this registration will open from 8:30am

โฑ๏ธ Chip Timing: The race is run with reusable chips; these are worn on your ankle and will be handed out with your number. Chips and ankle bracelets will be collected at the end, failure to do so may occur and additional charge. Wearing your ankle bracelet in an alternative location to that shown may mean you will not get a result, if you are unsure, please ask on the day.

๐ŸŽ’ Bag Drop: There will be space to leave your bag underneath the main stand at race HQ, valuables are left at your own risk.

๐Ÿšฝโ€‚Facilities: Toilets, Changing Facilities, Warm Drinks, Food and Bar can be located at Race HQ.

๐Ÿฆบ Marshalls & First Aid: The race will have Marshalls out on the course along with yellow directional arrows. Please listen to Marshall’s instructions as they are out on the course for your safety, the race is fully covered by Point 2 Point First Aid Services and they will have a number of vehicles on the course for your safety.

๐Ÿ’ง Water Station: We will have a water station at mile 2 and 4 and at the finish, please ensure all waste is disposed of in the bins provided.

โฐ Start Time: 10am, please note this is different to previous years.

๐ŸŒณ Course: The route is on open roads โ€“ albeit on quiet lanes, A mildly undulating route, the course is suitable for runners of all abilities. Full UK Athletics race license. Please be mindful of other participants and members of the public, please always keep to your left, if you need to overtake, please give space and do so on the right. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Warm Up/ Warm Down Areas: We recommend all runners use Great Western Way as an area for warming up and down to avoid congestion in and around the start / finish area.

๐Ÿ“ข Pre-Race Briefing: All the information is in the email, if there are any further updates, please keep an eye on our social media channels or the club website.

โžก๏ธ Race start: Due to the number of entries we are encouraging all runners to line up in estimated finish time order.

๐Ÿ Race Finish: The race finishes in the same place as the start.

๐Ÿ…Medals: Each runner will receive a finishers medal; these medals can be picked up once you have finished your run.

๐Ÿ† Prizes: We have a series of prizes that will be awarded post-race, we have overall male and females for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes along with age categories awards. Team prizes will be based on teams of 4.

๐Ÿฅ‡ Prize Giving: Prize giving will take place inside the Rugby Club at 11:45am, please support the Rugby Club by buying a drink.

๐Ÿ˜Ž Spectators: We are advising that spectators watch the race from along the first straight on Belvedere lane or out on the course as we need to keep the start and finish area clear at all times.

When youโ€™ve eaten far too much turkey, bored of the same old Christmas TV and youโ€™ve already planned  your new yearโ€™s festivities, there can only be one thing left to doโ€ฆโ€ฆ take part in a good old fashioned Christmas road race around the country lanes of Brienton, Herefordshire.

Due to the huge success of previous years the Couriers pleased to announce the return of the 5th Hereford Couriers CHRISTMAS 10k! 

Its a great course, a mildly undulating route, the course is suitable for runners of all abilities, the route will be full marked out and marshalled with a water station at the midway point, weโ€™ve even got a festive medal for every finisher & the race will be chip-timed!

Everyone is welcome.

  • Race Date: Thursday 28th December 2023.

  • Entries: Entry Fees: ยฃ16.00 โ€“ Affiliated / ยฃ18.00 โ€“ Unattached Race Limit 500, Minimum age 16.

Terms And Conditions

  • The entrant must agree to the following terms and conditions.
  • This event is to be held under UK Athletics rules. Race Licence applied for. The entrant agrees to abide by the rules of the event and that the officials’ decision is final.
  • The entrant confirms that they have no medical disability that would endanger themselves or others by taking part (and will not run if unfit to do so on the day).
  • The deadline for transfers or withdrawals for this event is the 18th December (10 days before the event) this is so this allows us to send the data onto the Chip Timing company who need to sort the race-day bibs. Failure to notify us before this time will result in no further edits or refunds for your entry. 
  • The entrant understands that the organisers will not be liable for any loss, damage, injury or illness howsoever caused as a result of entering the race.  The entrant agrees that during the race they will obey marshals’ instructions. No dogs will be allowed on the course.
  • If for any reason beyond our control the race has to be cancelled on the day (โ€œAct of godโ€ Flooding, Accidents, incidents etc) we cannot guarantee a full refund or that the race will be rescheduled. We will however do everything possible to resolve any unfortunate situation.
  • All entrants shall be deemed to have made him/herself familiar with, and agreed to be bound by the UKA Anti-Doping Rules and to submit to the authority of UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of the Anti-Doping Rules. The UKA Anti-Doping Rules apply to entrants participating in the sport of Athletics, for 12 months from the [date of entry], whether or not the entrant is a citizen of, or resident in, the UK. http://www.uka.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/210507-UKA-AD-Rules-3-combined-final.pdf  For added clarification, the date of entry is the date of the event 

FESTIVE WINS FOR JONES AND CARTER

Ben Jones, of Cambridge & Coleridge and Courier Addy Carter showed they were top of the Christmas tree by clinching victories in the 2023 10-kilometre Christmas race, hosted by Hereford Couriers.

The race, in its 4th year saw 300 runners take part in the event around the rolling country lanes of Breinton on Wednesday 28th December.

Jones had an impressive run leading from start to finish crossed the line to set a winning time of 32 minutes and 47 seconds, ahead of Eric Apperley of Croft Ambrey, who finished in a time of 34 mins and 25 with Dan Geisler close behind to finish in 3rd place crossing the line in 34 minutes and 36 seconds. 

In the female race the ever improving-Courier Carter won in a fantastic time of 40 minutes and 20 seconds, ahead of Black Pear Joggers runner Megan Judge who finished strong for second in a time of 40 minutes and 49 seconds ahead of Builth & District Runner Sophie Cook who finished in 41 minutes and 39.

The Couriers took the female team prize after a great set of performances by Carter, Joanna Eddy, Jess Sulivan and Laura Hands who took a clear victory in the female team competition, with the impressive Croft Ambrey menโ€™s team of Apperley, Gareth Leek, Mark Lamonby & Sam Juson help the team in blue clinch the menโ€™s team award.

Couriers Christmas 10k 2021

Congratulations to everyone who took part in this mornings Christmas 10k race, the race was won by Charlie Jones of Western Tempo Running Club & Annie Birch of London https://www.entrycentral.com/Christmas10k22City Athletics Club๐Ÿ‘

In the menโ€™s race it was London City AC runner Luke Rowlands in 2nd with Matthew Brunnock of Hereford & County AC in 3rd.

In the ladies 2nd place was taken by Donna Morris of Builth & District Running Club & Samantha Harris of Forest of Dean Athletic Club runner in 3rd.
