Courier Cups

These pieces of silverware are awarded to, respectively, the male and female runners who have performed at a consistently high level through the cross-country season. The competitions are on a points basis with, for the men, 20 for first Courier home in each of the Hereford League fixtures , 19 for the second man, 18 for the third and so on, with the scores totalled after the 5 fixtures. To stand a chance of winning, you pretty well HAVE to do all 5 races. It is the same system for the women, though with 10 points max per race [as there tend to be fewer female Couriers racing.] As well as the silverware, there are medals for the first 3 men and women. If points totals are tied, the runner with the higher overall  position in any of the races will get the nod.

THE DAVID PREECE & ALISON COOKE CUPS.

Couriers are initiating their own competition within a competition during the summer off-road league similar to that run over the winter cross country season. This will be for the David Preece Cup for men and for the Alison Cooke Cup for women, with medals for the first 3 in each, Both competitions will work as follows: in each qualifying race (i.e the 4 Summer League fixtures + the County 10 mile road race) the first Courier home will gain 20 points, the 2nd 19 and so on. Points are totted up over the 5 races to give the overall positions. To be in with a chance you really need to do all 5.I plan to present cups and medals at the Rowing Club following the 10 miler (before the main presentation)
