Hereford Couriers were represented at the annual British and Irish Masters International Cross Country Championships this year by Steve Herington, competing in the 70 – 74 age group in a six kilometer race.
The event was held on a beautifully sunny day over an undulating course in Singleton Park, Swansea and featured races for male and female athletes in five year categories from 35 – 75 + years of age.
England dominated the team races, winning every category bar one. In the male 70 – 74 section, the four man team took gold convincingly, led home by the individual victor, Ben Grant, from Harrogate. Couriers’ Herington had a somewhat below par run, after illness, closing the team in eighth spot, but was pleased to medal.
“I intend to improve with age,” quipped the hirsute Hereford septuagenarian.
