Great results in the Herefordshire X-C Champs, with our senior male team taking gold and our vets’ male team silver. There were also some fantastic individual performances, with a further two golds and a silver collected. Tom Grady began his Couriers’ career taking the County 10,000m Champs in 2015 and at Monkhall he secured the coveted title of X-C Champion. In the junior competition, this is precisely what young Ross Cameron achieved in his very first season with Couriers. Huge congratulations to both.
In the Senior event, Tom was pushed hard all the way by perennial medal winner, Matt James, taking a fine silver this time. The regular inflow of cups and medals means that in order to accommodate his growing number of trophy cabinets, poor Matt is forced to keep moving house. But don’t slow down please, Matt. Individually, a mention should also be made of Naomi Prosser, who was fourth senior woman, just missing out on bronze, with Amy Smith, close up in 5th.
Completing the men’s senior team and carrying home his first shiny gold county medal was Sam Goodchild, another great addition to the squad this season. The silver-haired winners of the old fellows’ silver medals comprise a posse of former Courier stars, with Russell 5th, Richie 7th, and Dave 8th, with Mike Link the unlucky one to miss out in 9th. No medal this year either for Kev who, in 2016, was probably the most effective anchor the team has ever had.
