THE HATTERALL HAMMER

Hereford Couriers are proud to present the second edition of

THE HATTERALL HAMMER Saturday 28th February 2.0 p.m. from The Old Pandy Inn, Hereford Road [A465], Pandy, Abergavenny NP7 8DR

This is a fell race of around 4.1 miles with 1080 feet of ascent. It is a Category A race and part of the prestigious South Wales Winter Series of races this year.

It is short but tough and makes an admirable introduction to fell running for those who have not yet had a try. The winning times last year were 27 mins for men and 34 mins for women.

Studded shoes are a must and please come prepared to carry a bumbag with windproof full body cover, map [provided], compass, whistle, emergency food and drink. The race organiser will stipulate on the day what kit requirements are necessary depending on the weather.

A notice of Summarised Safety Requirements For Competitors will be displayed on race day and you are advised to familiarise yourself with this.

The race is fully insured through the Welsh Fell Runners Association and first aid cover will be available.

Entry is ONLY £4 and, for this, you get, not only a fine race with prizes in 5 year categories and a quick results service but free food [including chips] to go with the beer [you have to buy.]

Among the prizes this year will be presentation bottles of Hatterall Hammer Cider, produced locally by the St Margarets Cider Co, a representative of which will be attending [to take further orders!]

ENTRY FOR THE RACE IS ON THE DAY ONLY…no new-fangled on-line malarkey here. Minimum age to race is 16 yrs. Please try and arrive in good time.
