Upton Bishop Big Dipper

BISHOP WINS THE BISHOP

Bev only joined the Club after last year’s Hurtle and didn’t waste any time in carrying off the Female Member of the Year Award at the AGM. Since then she has had a tough time with illness and injury but is coming good ready for the trials of the X-C season. Here, at the aptly named Big Dipper, which could also be called The Rollercoaster and which, in Eliot’s view, is best tackled with a hangover, Bev steamed to first V40, holding off a lunging surge [or a surging lunge] from Kev who, one spectator suggested, was “the actual Big Dipper.” Cheeky beggar! Sheryl had a good run some five minutes behind, finishing powerfully, while the Kipper was back on the cider with first M60. Run in fine autumnal weather, the race put on by Nigel Misselbrook of Croft fame, was sponsored by Weston’s and featured refreshments to satisfy the most carb-depleted athlete [Kev again.]
